From Translation Studies to Cleantech
With a master's degree in Translation Studies focusing on English and Italian, a career in the cleantech sector might not seem like the obvious choice. Yet, joining MyGrid turned out to be surprisingly logical. After a previous exit, I wanted to invest my energy in something with a tangible ecological and social impact. MyGrid fit the bill perfectly: a place where sustainable innovation and social responsibility come together.
A New Perspective on Life
The birth of my daughter changed my outlook on life. Where once my ambitions took center stage, my focus now includes the future of the next generations. This shift brought a deeper sense of purpose. I want to be able to tell my daughter that I made a positive contribution to a more sustainable world, no matter how small.
Inspiration from Unsung Heroes
Big names and famous thinkers are all well and good, but the people who truly inspire me are often anonymous. They’re the ones who selflessly dedicate themselves to people and the planet, fighting for a better world without expecting anything in return. It’s the power of small, selfless acts that together make a big difference.
Stories That Move Me
As a lover of English literature, I enjoy being swept away by stories that hit home. My favorites include Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann, Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre and The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. I also appreciate non-fiction that encourages self-reflection and slowing down, like Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty.
Not a Tech Geek, but a Language Nerd
Working at a tech startup doesn’t make me a geek, quite the opposite. If there’s anyone who can crash software just by looking at it, it’s me. I’m like a magnetic field when it comes to technology. (laughs) But I do have a deep passion for language. I've been fascinated by the beauty of language from a young age. Clumsy language usage makes my toes curl. You can definitely call me a language nerd.
P for Podcasts and Piemonte
To unwind, I go for a run with a podcast in my ears. My favorite topic? Wine. Preferably about wines from Piemonte, my great passion. One day, I’d love to do something with it professionally. The plans still need some maceration time. Pun intended.
Travel and Memories
My ideal holiday is a blend of nature's tranquility, adventure, culture, architecture, and great food. Books are always part of my luggage. In the past, I often traveled to Indonesia to surf, a passion that brought me complete peace. Watching the sun rise while floating in the lineup, positioning yourself for that perfect wave: pure magic.
Guilty Pleasures
Fine dining and good wine. Serve me a quality Barolo or a bottle of Burgundy, and you’ll instantly become my best friend. (laughs)
